Taiwan-based Bruneian actor Wu Chun has been criticised by netizens for spoiling his three-year-old daughter Wu Xinyi (fondly known as “Nei Nei”), after Chinese variety-reality show Daddy is Back recently aired.
In the programme, Nei Nei was seen wearing diapers, pushed around in a stroller and only ate her meals when she was given sweets. Attending the opening ceremony of his good friend’s hair salon in Taipei yesterday, Wu Chun explained his actions, saying, “She only put on the diapers for a few hours and not an entire day, because I was worried that public toilets are dirty.”
“It was raining so I sat her in the stroller, in case she slipped on the wet ground,” he added.
The doting dad also responded to the controversy regarding Nei Nei’s “shower scene” on the show. He said: “I’ve read all the comments online. The netizens are right. She might be embarrassed by this in future. It’s a reminder for me [to be more careful].”
Fahrenheit members Jiro Wang and Calvin Chen were also present at the event yesterday. When asked on Aaron Yan’s absence, the trio said that it was “inconvenient” for the singer to make an appearance as he co-owns another hair salon.
Additionally, Wu Chun shared that both Jiro and Calvin have met his daughter. While the actor is not overly concerned about being followed by the media, he hopes to manage his work load to spend more time with his family.
