JENNIFER Lawrence had a few words of wisdom for rising star Shailene Woodley when she asked her advice on whether to take on the role of Tris in the film adaptation of the wildly popular YA novel Divergent; don’t do drugs, don’t make a sex tape, and don’t go to the supermarket on the day the film opens.
“I sent her an email – I had never met her – and I was like, ‘Hey, Jen! I know you don’t know who I am, but I have this opportunity and I was wondering how Hunger Games affected your life,’” Woodley told E! News.
“’(And) if you were happy with your decision, etc.’”
Woodley said she was surprised to receive a reply from the Oscar-winning actress, who reeled off her practical advice.
“She was like, ‘Listen, there are a few things you should not do, like drugs and make a sex tape, or go to Whole Foods the day the movie opens,’” the 22-year-old said.
Woodley’s career has mirrored Lawrence’s somewhat in the way she’s making the transition from independent films to major studio flicks.
Along with that endearing Lawrence-esque, goofy, loveable demeanour, she’s no doubt on her way to being a major movie star.
“It’s gonna change your life in so many positive ways,” Woodley said of Lawrence, who also told her not to worry about becoming the face of a franchise.
Her advice? “Definitely do it.”
