Rumour has it that Taiwanese-Japanese artiste Makiyo will be getting hitched soon.
According to Taiwan media reports, Makiyo’s mother had been diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer, and last May was declared to have only four months to live. Recently, her condition worsened, and Makiyo hopes to drive away her mother’s illness by getting married.
Her purported husband-to-be is “Winnie Man”, whom she was caught dating two years ago. He was dubbed “Winnie Man” because of his resemblance to the cartoon character Winnie the Pooh.
However, the 30-year-old refuted the claims when she appeared on variety show Kangxi Coming on Wednesday, insisting that they are not dating. “He is not pursuing me,” she clarified, “[We] only met up for lunch because he returned to Taiwan.”
When asked if there was a chance for their relationship to develop in the future, Makiyo replied, “I don’t know about this.”
Makiyo’s mother, who had accompanied her onto the show, revealed that she had only met “Winnie Man” once: “[We’re] not even familiar [with each other], where did the wedding come from?”
However, she also added that she hopes to see her daughter get married soon. When asked about the traits she wants in a son-in-law, she replied: “A man who treats my daughter well.”
The older woman also looked better than the rumours had claimed. She had recently begun to accept chemotherapy treatment, and weighs 56kg after losing 3kg.
She said, “[After] I ate Chinese medicine and antrodia, the side effects from chemotherapy have lessened considerably, and I don’t have diarrhoea as often.”
