American-Chinese heartthrob Lee Hom announced that his wife is five months pregnant, at the closing of his Xi An concert yesterday.
During the celebratory dinner after his concert yesterday, a beaming Lee Hom appeared hand-in-hand with his wife, Lee Jinglei, and told everyone that he will soon be a dad.
“From today onwards, it will be a life of 1 + 1 = 3,” he said. “Thank you for the best present you’ve given me.”
A baby bump can be visibly seen on Jinglei, who was wearing a loose white top and flats. She appeared to take great care when she walked, and often needed her husband for support.
Lee Hom added that though they did not know the gender of the baby yet, and he does not mind a boy or girl. While they are uncertain of the baby’s gender, the couple has already come up with a nickname for the child.
“Fans call me Wang Er (‘Wang number two’), so I’ll call him or her Wang Yi (‘Wang number one’) since the characters have lesser strokes,” he said.
He emphasised that his wife was not pregnant before they married, and that she will be giving birth in Taiwan, as he felt that it would be better if she had her confinement there.
This not the first time the Mandopop singer songwriter sent shockwaves through showbiz. He did the same when he announced that he has married the 27-year-old Columbia University graduate, a day after he went public with their relationship last year in November.
The couple has been making several public appearances since, with Jinglei spotted at Lee Hom’s concerts, and the pair even came to Singapore for ‘Celebrate TV50’, the New Year countdown show and held a private showcase for fans.
