South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun arrived in Nanjing, China via a chartered flight last Saturday, for the programme recording of Jiangsu TV’s popular variety show Super Brain. According to media reports, the 26-year-old raked in NT$15 million (approximately S$620,000) for his appearance.
Jiangsu TV reportedly spent NT$29.6 million (S$1.24 million) in total, to invite the actor, whose popularity skyrocketed after the success of You Who Came From The Stars, to join the eight-hour recording.
Tickets to the show were said to be sold for as much as NT$24,000 (S$1000) per ticket in the black market. At the programme recording, 600 security guards were hired to maintain order and all attendees had to go through three rounds of checks before entering the studio.
Fans of “Do Min Joon” (Soo Hyun’s character in the drama) burst out in screams when the actor showed up in a suave black suit and presented flowers to the female guests, Matilda Tao and Cecilia Cheung.
Meanwhile, Soo Hyun’s fan-meet in Taipei on Mar 22 has also sold out.
