The three-day wedding affair that saw Hong Kong actor Kenny Bee spend at least HK$5million (approximately S$800,000) on finally ended with a tear-jerking wedding ceremony on Monday. Kenny and Fan Jiang had also held a Hawaiian-themed celebration party last Saturday.
61-year-old Kenny wore a white suit at the ceremony while 42-year-old Fan Jiang was dressed in a white gown with a plunging neckline designed by a famous Hong Kong designer. She also wore her six-carat diamond ring and a dragon motif bracelet.
The wedding at the Alila Villas Uluwatu hotel in Bali was hosted by Hong Kong actress Rosamund Kwan and Hong Kong singer Alan Tam. The former cried while giving her congratulatory speech and the bride was also moved to tears. Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang and the couple’s older daughter shed tears of joy as well.
The marriage, which is Kenny’s second one, was even more meaningful to him after their 17-year relationship. The two have a pair of daughters, 9-year-old Chung Yee and 4-year-old Chung Kwok.
“I am very happy today. I just want to give Fan Jiang a status and account for my daughters,” Kenny shared in an interview after the wedding.
He had also prepared four songs for the wedding, of which two English oldies were dedicated to Fan Jiang and sung by Chung Yee.
Responding to news where the media have been sent away by the police due to high security of the wedding, Kenny said, “I’m sorry this issue (the wedding) attracted so much attention. When I requested for confidentiality from the hotel, I did not expect so big a reaction. I hope everything is alright and I thank everyone for their concern.”
Both mothers of the bride and groom did not attend the ceremony as it was a party for relatives and friends. They will hold a banquet in Hong Kong on November 12 where more friends and family members will attend.
