Taiwanese Mandopop singer Yoga Lin and Hong Kong singer G.E.M. Tang’s rumoured romance has reached yet another peak. The two were speculated to be together in 2010, subsequently admitted to their romance at last year’s Golden Melody Awards and was recently said to have broken up.
Now, a source revealed that the pair was never a couple, and that their “romance” was all a sham, created to generate publicity for themselves.
“They were newcomers in showbiz, and wanted to create more buzz for their own careers,” the source said, adding that the “news” of their break-up was also part of the deliberate attempt to generate publicity.
Another insider source added: “Yoga had no choice, he had to listen to his management.”
Meanwhile, Hong Kong media has revealed that the 26-year-old Yoga is dating singer Kiki Ding, who is three years his senior. It was understood that the two met through mutual friends, Taiwanese girl group S.H.E last year, and fell in love after they took part in Taiwan’s Formoz Festival last August.
They were even said to have spent this Valentine’s Day together. Kiki even posted on Weibo that day: “We are modestly in love, and this is the best happiness on earth.”
Yoga’s management, HIM International Music, and G.E.M have refused to comment on the claims, while Kiki, who has yet to make a public appearance, could not be contacted for a response.
