Taiwanese singer songwriter David Tao has confirmed that he is getting married at the end of the year, after recent rumours spread that the wedding will be held this July.
The 44-year-old singer will tie the knot with his girlfriend Penny, who is 16 years his junior, and whom he has been caught exchanging sweet text messages with.
Penny is working in the financial sector, and the couple has been dating for over two years. It is understood that Penny’s Chinese name is Jiang Pei Rong, and she is said to have come from a wealthy family, as her father is the owner of Dongshun Hardware store.
After announcing the good news at a press conference yesterday, David spoke about his girlfriend for the first time. “Penny is 28 this year, and she’s a very filial and sensible girl,” he said.
He added that they are now busy with wedding preparations, though they haven’t officially registered their marriage yet, but he emphasised that it is not a shotgun marriage.
When asked about his proposal details, David said that he isn’t romantic by nature, and simply just put the ring on her finger. “But of course it’s important to be romantic after marriage,” he said.
Many of his fans reacted positively to his good news, and congratulated him on social media.
