Contrary to previous reports that Daniel Wu’s mother was seriously ill, obituaries have confirmed that the 77-year-old passed away on May 22 after a short battle with lung cancer with her family by her side.
Diana Ting Wu is survived by her husband of 54 years, George, and her three children Gloria, Greta and Daniel. While the actor has yet to make a formal announcement, Saint Mary’s College of California and the San Francisco Chronicle have posted obituaries chronicling the colorful life of the late academic. Diana began her teaching career as a professor at Saint Mary’s in 1981; she was recognised as Emeritus Professor in the School of Business and Administration last June.
A memorial service was held on June 15 at Saint Mary’s College of California Chapel and the family requested for donations to be used for scholarships to be sent to the school in lieu of flowers.
Daniel has not commented on his future plans but his manager has reportedly confirmed that he will be choosing to focus on his career in the US instead – to be with his family in the US. Revolution Talent Management Ltd, which he co-owns with entertainment magnate Peter Lam, will be shut down at the end of the month. He has yet to confirm the fate of his other businesses in Hong Kong, which includes a sushi shop.
